Cops: Imposter Duped Harvard, Stole $48K
Until now, Adam Wheeler fooled some of the brightest people in America.
Investigators in Massachusetts say the 23-year-old from Milton, Del., lied to get into Harvard University, and in the process stole $48,000 in financial aid and scholarships from other students.
Wheeler now faces charges for 20 offenses, including identity theft, larceny and pretending to hold a degree.
Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone told reporters, "This defendant's actions cheated those who competed honestly and fairly for admissions and for the scholarships this defendant fraudulently obtained."
Wheeler is currently in jail. He was indicted Monday, and is scheduled to go before a judge today.
