Cops: Hours after getting married, Ind. man kills wife, self
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Authorities say a Terre Haute, Ind. man married for less than a day fatally shot his bride before killing himself.
Vigo County Chief Deputy Sheriff Clark Cottom says deputies responding to a frantic 911 call for help from a woman Sunday afternoon found 50-year-old Kelly Samson shot several times in the torso and head with a 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. They found 54-year-old Dr. George "Scott" Samson dead in the basement of a home after he shot himself once in the head with a 45-caliber handgun.
Cottom tells the Tribune-Star the two were married Saturday evening.
"They were having domestic problems at the house. Within a short amount of time guests decided it would be best if they left. Shortly after the last guest left, that's when things went terribly wrong," Cottom told CBS affiliate WTHI.
Cottom says Kelly Samson's son and an elderly couple were inside the home at the time of the shootings.
Vigo County Coroner Dr. Susan Amos says George Samson worked as an anesthesiologist at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
