Cops: Dairy Queen employee helped rob his own workplace
CHICAGO - A Dairy Queen employee allegedly helped carry out an armed robbery Sunday night at the Chicago store where he works, reports CBS Chicago.
Chicago police said 23-year-old Marquise Boyd helped 28-year-old Haili Bernard plan the robbery of the Dairy Queen where Boyd works in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Bernard allegedly entered the store through a side door as the place was closing, brandished a handgun, and announced a robbery, police said.
Another employee ran for the front door, startling Bernard, who stole the victim's cell phone, and fled the scene, according to the station.
Bernard and Boyd each face one count of felony armed robbery, police said.
