Cops: Body found in search for missing Miss. mom
FLOWOOD, Miss. -- A female body was found Wednesday afternoon in the search for missing Jackson mom Jessica Hewitt, police tell 48 Hours Crimesider.
The body hasn't been identified, but Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance told the Clarion-Ledger they believe the body is Hewitt, 29, who was reported missing Monday after family said she didn't pick up her child from daycare. The paper reports her car was found abandoned Tuesday in nearby Flowood, kicking off an air and ground search.
The body was found by search teams in a Flowood river, Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department told Crimesider. An autopsy is set to determine identity and cause of death.
Hewitt's husband, Hobbie Hewitt, was questioned and released Tuesday, Green said. Friends told the Clarion-Ledger that Jessica Hewitt left Hobbie Hewitt, her husband of two months, on Friday.
Vance told the paper that Hobbie Hewitt was on the scene where the woman's car was discovered before police responded, but they're not calling him a suspect.
