Conservative group puts $400K into radio ads for 10 GOP lawmakers
American Action Network (AAN), a conservative outside group, is putting $400,000 into radio ads this week in 10 congressional districts, giving a boost to Republicans and potentially vulnerable members in swing districts.
After some rough town halls, AAN is also putting up ads to help defend some members who faced difficult crowds during public meetings during their recess. One of those members, Rep. Rod Blum, R-Iowa, was booed and jeered by his constituents at a town hall days ago.
The other ads are going up in the districts of Reps. Martha McSally, Jeff Denham, David Valadao, Steve Knight, Kevin Yoder, Bruce Poliquin, Don Bacon, Pat Tiberi and House Speaker Paul Ryan.
AAN has now spent $3.1 million on TV and digital ads since the passage of the Republican health care plan. The radio ads going up this week - and on the airwaves through June 5 - supplement that effort. Overall, AAN plans to spend $13.1 million on GOP health care advocacy and the American Healthcare Act.
