Conservative group launches $2.5 million tax reform ad campaign
The American Action Network (AAN), a conservative advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., announced its launch of a $2.5 million television ad campaign highlighting the need for tax reform Tuesday morning.
"Working families have had to stretch their paychecks to make ends meet for long enough, it's time for Congress to do their part and make our tax code simpler, fairer and with lower rates," said AAN Executive Director Corry Bliss. "Now is the time for lawmakers to work together and deliver much needed relief."
The release of the ad campaign comes as Congress reconvenes and attempts to overhaul the tax code, and as President Trump continues his tax-reform-related travels across the country.
The president began outlining his administration's tax overhaul goals at what the White House called a "tax reform kickoff event" in Springfield, Missouri. In the most recent leg of Mr. Trump's cross-country tax reform campaign, he called the tax code a "self-inflicted economic wound" at a speech delivered in Mandan, North Dakota.
The AAN ad tilted "Too Complicated" will spread its "pro-growth tax reform" message across 23 congressional districts, targeting members of Congress on key committees and those who hold leadership positions. It features a working Wisconsin family who says it has been burdened by the current U.S. tax code both as individuals and as small business owners.
"America's tax code is too complicated," the ad states. "So, a little tax relief from Congress– with a simpler, fairer tax code– gives working families like ours peace of mind. Closing tax loopholes ensures everyone pays their fair share."
The TV ad is part of the AAN's "Middle-Class Growth Initiative," which is a multi-platform tax reform campaign started by the conservative group and valued at $7.5 million.
