Conan O'Brien to host 2014 MTV Movie Awards

Conan O'Brien will take on emcee duties for the first time this year at the MTV Movie Awards.

The late-night host TV host announced the news on his TBS show Tuesday.

"After eight years of intense negotiations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV's second most prestigious awards show," he joked in a statement.

This isn't O'Brien's first time hosting an awards ceremony though. He previously served as host of the Primetime Emmy Awards (2002 and 2006). Past MTV Movie Awards include Jimmy Fallon, Russell Brand, Rebel Wilson and Sarah Silverman.

The MTV Movie Awards, which honors the year's movies, will be held April 13 at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre starting at 9 p.m. ET.

Nominations will be announced on Thursday. Winners receive golden popcorn trophies.
