Comedian Steve Harvey's Ex-Wife Virally Attacks Him on YouTube in Wake of Lawsuit
NEW YORK (CBS) Comedian Steve Harvey's ex-wife has lashed out against her former husband in a series of YouTube videos after a recent lawsuit in which Harvey accuses her of being the reason he was denied a show by Oprah Winfrey.
Mary Harvey released three videos totaling 25 minutes detailing the ups and downs of her 9-year marriage to Harvey, who she claims was unfaithful throughout their relationship and became a tyrant during their divorce, even taking from her the only son they had together.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mary Harvey chose to make the videos in light of the negative press she has been receiving in various publications, especially Essence magazine's Jan. 11 cover story, regarding the lawsuit filed against her by Harvey in Texas.
"In Steve's opinion, I was responsible when Oprah did not give him a TV show," she says. "I'm being sued for that. That is why I'm saying what I have to say.... To keep seeing my name referenced when talking about his life - that part of it, I don't understand."
Mary Harvey claims she is trying to move on with her life, but finds it difficult when she keeps getting lambasted in the press.
Steve Harvey married Marjorie Bridge, one of his alleged mistresses, in 2007, and has since penned several relationship advice books.
Steve Harvey's attorney, Bobbie Edmonds, responded to the YouTube videos made by Harvey's ex, saying that he and his client are "appalled and aware of the videos and other fabricated documents ... which contained false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous information about Mr. Harvey, his current wife and others."
