Colo. parents Edward and Linda Bryant arrested, adopted sons missing for years, say cops
(CBS/KKTV/AP) MONUMENT, Colo. - Investigators in Colorado are searching for two boys who have been missing for most of the last decade whose adoptive parents, originally from Texas, have allegedly been receiving government checks to support the boys - even though they were not living with the couple.
Austin Eugene Bryant, who would be 15-years-old, is said to have disappeared as early as 2003 when he was 7-years-old. Edward Dylan Bryant, who would be 18-years-old now, is believed to have gone missing as early as 2001 when he would have been nine.
An El Paso County sheriff's spokeswoman said Wednesday that 58-year-old Edward Bryant and 54-year-old Linda Bryant are in jail on $1 million bail each.
According to CBS affiliate KKTV, they have not been charged in the disappearances of Austin and Edward.
The Bryants lived in the Monument area near Colorado Springs between 1999 and 2005 and most recently lived in the Dallas area.
They have been charged with felony theft, conspiracy, attempt to influence a public official, offering a false instrument for recording, and forgery.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a neighborhood canvass and following other investigative leads to try to determine more details surrounding the disappearance of these children.
