Clive Owen, Andrea Riseborough talk "Shadow Dancer"

A turbulent period in Ireland's history is being revisited in the new thriller "Shadow Dancer."

Produced by BBC Films, "Shadow Dancer" is set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1993 in an era known as "The Troubles," which was marked by frequent deadly terrorist bombings at the hands of the Irish Republican Army in its decades-long struggle for independence from Britain.

Oscar-nominated actor Clive Owen stars as Mac, an MI5 government agent who recruits Collette, a member of the IRA played by Andrea Riseborough ("Oblivion," "W.E."), to become an undercover spy against her friends and family.

"Shadow Dancer" is based on the 1998 novel of the same name, written by Tom Bradby, who also penned the screenplay adaptation, and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker James Marsh ("Man on Wire").

The film has attracted positive reviews, with critics complimenting Marsh's ability to balance tense thrills with complicated themes.
