Clinton, Gore Together Again

Al Gore spent the night at former President Clinton's New York home and traveled with his former boss to Washington, setting aside their political hard feelings to attend national prayer services.

The former vice president arrived in Buffalo, N.Y., from Europe on Thursday and called Mr. Clinton to discuss Tuesday's terrorist attacks. The president invited Gore to spend the night at his Chappaqua, N.Y., home.

President Bush invited Mr. Clinton and Gore to attend Friday's services, contacting Gore as he was returning through New York state by car, headed home from his overseas trip.

Mr. Clinton asked Gore to fly with him to Washington aboard an Air Force plane provided by the Bush administration to attend services in memory of victims of the terrorist attack.

Former Presidents Bush, Ford and Carter also were provided planes for the service.

Gore shut Mr. Clinton out of his presidential campaign last year, fearing his boss' sexual affair and impeachment trial would hurt his own election chances. Mr. Clinton reportedly felt slighted by the action.
