Chuck Lorre on "CTM" Wed.
(CBS News) Famed TV writer, director and producer Chuck Lorre will be on "CBS This Morning" Wednesday morning to discuss his coffee table book, "What Doesn't Kill Us Makes US Bitter." The book is a collection of Lorre's vanity cards, which are essentially blurbs that appear for a few seconds after the credits of his half-hour sitcoms.
Lorre began writing the vanity cards in 1997, during his tenure on the ABC hit "Dharma & Greg." He says the cards were initially intended to entertain audiences and started at a time when VCRs weren't necessarily good enough to allow viewers to pause and read them. Over time, however, the cards developed into an outlet for Lorre to vent his frustrations about production, censorship and other life challenges. Most notably, Lorre used the cards to get back at then-"Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen during their public battle in early 2011.
Lorre, 59, currently writes three cards a week, on for each of his CBS Shows, "Two and a Half Men," "The Big Bang Theory," and "Mike & Molly."
The book will be released on October 30 for $100 by Simon & Schuster. Simon & Schuster and CBS are owned by the same parent company. All proceeds from the book will benefit Lorre's Dharma-Grace Foundation, which supports the Venice, Calif. Family Clinic.
Be sure to tune in to "CTM" 7-9 a.m. ET Wednesday for his full interview.
