Texas woman still missing one year later

PLANO, Texas --Aug. 30 marked a somber anniversary for the family of missing Texas woman Christina Morris - one year since their daughter disappeared.

Christina Morris, 23, was last seen on surveillance camera footage Aug. 30, 2014 at The Shops at Legacy in Plano with her former classmate Enrique Arochi. On the video, the two people are seen walking into a parking garage.

Arochi, 25, was arrested in December and charged with aggravated kidnapping. He has maintained his innocence in the case. The whereabouts of Morris are still a mystery.

"I'm not going to stop searching," Jonni McElroy, the missing woman's mother, told CBS DFW. "Why would I? There's no reason. The only reason is when I find her or have an answer."

CBS DFW reported that according to police records, investigators found DNA from the blood and saliva of a female on the edge of Arochi's car's trunk opening. The police search and arrest warrants allege that Arochi left the parking garage "with Christina Morris in the trunk" of his car.

The documents obtained by the station state that a phone belonging to Morris was pinging cell towers while she was allegedly locked in the trunk of the car, reports the station. Authorities believe that Arochi returned to The Shops at Legacy with Morris still inside the trunk.

Arochi was reportedly back at his home in Allen about 40 minutes after the alleged abduction. The warrants also suggest that Arochi had intended to sexually "violate or abuse" Morris, and that he may have become angry when his advances were rejected.

A lawyer for Arochi told CBS DFW last year that the documents are "based largely upon conjecture and speculation, and leave many questions unanswered."

Now in jail, Arochi is set to appear in court on Nov. 30.

McElroy told the station that while she understands it's not likely she'll find her daughter alive, she's still holding out hope.

She said she believes Arochi knows about her daughter's disappearance.

"It is my hope that he will finally say something," McElroy said.
