Christian Bale exits Steve Jobs film
Looks like Christian Bale won't be playing Steve Jobs, after all.
The "American Hustle" actor is exiting the Danny Boyle-directed biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sources told THR that Bale came to the conclusion he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw from the Sony Pictures project. The script, penned by Aaron Sorkin, is reportedly divided into three acts that follow Jobs through three stressful, high-profile product launches.
Sorkin had only just recently confirmed Bale would be playing Jobs in the film. "We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range, and that's Chris Bale," he said in an interview last month, adding, "it's an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."
Seth Rogen is reportedly being eyed to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the film, and Jessica Chastain is also said to be in consideration for an undisclosed role. There's no word on if or how Bale's departure will affect casting or the film's production schedule (THR reports it was due to begin shooting this winter).
