Chris Evans on Marvel movies: "They've got a monopoly"
DC Comics received plenty of attention last month with the release of "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," but rival comic book empire Marvel also has a new movie coming out -- and its star is feeling very confident.
Chris Evans, who reprises his role as Captain America in next month's "Captain America: Civil War," is bullish on how Marvel has been handling translating popular comic book heroes to the big screen since 2008's "Iron Man."
"Let's keep going, let's let the wave get bigger and bigger," he said at a press conference for the new film Sunday. "It's not like they're making bad movies, they're making great movies. And if you want to put them in this superhero box you can, but they're good movies."
"They've got a monopoly on it," Evans said. "They're doing it, and no one else can try and copy it."
Many have taken that comment as a not-so-subtle dig at "Batman v. Superman" and the DC extended universe.
"Captain America: Civil War" opens in U.S. theaters May 6.
