Chris Christie on potential Ebola quarantine lawsuit: "Whatever"

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is brushing off the threat of a potential lawsuit from a nurse who was quarantined after returning from West Africa with a flippant, "Whatever."

"I've been sued lots of times before. Get in line. I'm happy to take it on," Christie said Tuesday while campaigning for fellow Republicans in New England.

The nurse, Kaci Hickox, was forcibly quarantined in an isolation tent at a New Jersey Hospital after returning from West Africa, despite testing negative for Ebola. She was released on Monday, but not before retaining a lawyer and announcing her intent to sue over her confinement.

Hickox is also resisting a request from officials in her home state of Maine to self-quarantine at home for 21 days. One of her lawyers said he believes the state should follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines that require only monitoring, not quarantine, for health care workers who show no symptoms after treating Ebola patients.

While she was in confinement, she publicly criticized Christie for calling her "obviously ill" when discussing the quarantine.

"First of all, I don't think he's a doctor; secondly, he's never laid eyes on me; and thirdly, I've been asymptomatic since I've been here," Hickox said in a phone interview with CNN Sunday.

Christie, for his part, has defended the quarantine both in interviews and a series of tweets Monday.

"She had access to the Internet and we brought her takeout food...I don't have any concerns about that," he said, calling her complaints, "malarky."
