Chris Brown talks Rihanna, new album on "Today"
Chris Brown stopped by the "Today" show on Monday, where he fielded questions about his upcoming album and relationship with Rihanna.
"I've been humbled by the whole experience," Brown, 23, told co-host Matt Lauer of how he's changed since he assaulted the "Diamonds" singer in 2009. "From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is -- but most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and being able to apologize to, you know, Rihanna and be that man that can be a man, you know?"
When asked what he's learned, Brown replied: "I think it's just me proving myself once again and also me just being a man, and knowing what I did wrong and never doing it again. As for as me and her concerned, [Rihanna] knows my heart and I know her heart. I'm not really focused on the negative, everything about is positive for me. I did my 52 weeks of counseling and learned it was absolutely wrong."
Lauer pointed out that some people may not believe he has changed, particularly in light of behavior like his alleged altercation with R&B singer Frank Ocean. "I think everybody's entitled to their opinion. For me, it's a learning process. I just have to take it one day at a time. I can't make everybody like me ... ...it's about me being positive."
As for his new album, "X," Brown told Lauer he wants his music to "inspire the world."
