Chicago Violence: Four dead and 11 injured in shootings since Wednesday afternoon

(CBS/CBS Chicago) - -Four people are dead and at least 11 more were injured after shootings broke out in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday, reported CBS Chicago.

The dead, according to the station, include a 57-year-old woman who police found shot in the head and in critical condition on a South Side sidewalk while they were on a routine patrol and heard gunshots at around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities said.

WBBM reported that the victim was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where she died Thursday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Michael Kizer, 34, was also among the fatalities, police said. He was shot outside of his home when two gunman approached him and opened fire, said the station.

On Wednesday afternoon, at 1:08 p.m. a 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the neck and later pronounced dead at Roseland Community Hospital. At the same time, just blocks away, another man was shot but survived, reported WBBM.

Little is known about the fourth homicide victim, except for that he was in his 20s and police found him with fatal gunshot wounds, said the station.

CBS Chicago reported that 10 additional people were shot and injured between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatalities but would not release three of the four homicide victims' names.
