Chicago man gunned down while filming Facebook Live video
CHICAGO -- A 28-year-old Chicago man was fatally shot Wednesday night while filming himself on Facebook Live, reports CBS Chicago.
Antonio Perkins was using the social media network's live-streaming video option when several gunshots rang out and Perkins fell to the ground, reports the station. People can be heard screaming and calling for an ambulance. Perkins was fatally struck in the neck and head.
Warning: The video may be disturbing to some viewers.
The station reports police are still searching for the gunman.
Sources tell the station Perkins had numerous arrests and convictions and was a documented gang member. But his family says the father of three was turning his life around and had been working at a McDonalds for the past several years.
Perkins's family told the station they do not believe he was the intended target of the shooting. Two of his young children were reportedly outside with him when he was gunned down.
"My son was doing good. He wasn't involved in anything. He was going to work and taking care of his children," the victim's father, Daniel Cole, told the station.
Perkins' brother was reportedly shot to death a few years ago in the same neighborhood.
This is the second time this year that someone filming a live Facebook selfie video was shot in Chicago. On March 31, a 31-year-old man filming himself walking down the street in broad daylight was also gunned down. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the man survived his injuries.
