Cher's House In Hawaii Up For Auction
Story updated January 22, 2010.
Let's play a little game.
I'll say Cher and you say:
- Sonny and ... (that's a given)
- Bob Mackie dresses
- Chastity, now Chaz
- Singing in Las Vegas
- Still rocking into her next decade
On January 18, Concierge Auctions house will auction off a Cher-designed estate located in the Four Seasons Hualala resort. The house has six bedrooms, six full baths, two half baths in 8,821 square feet located on three quarters of an acre with golf course and ocean views.
In addition to the main residence, the property also has five free-standing bungalows, including four with bedrooms and baths and one with a media room and bar.
The house features a gracious main entryway, gathering room, dining room, kitchen, master suite, guest bungalows, media bungalow, infinity-edge swimming pool with hot tub, and glorious views (see above and check out additional photos on the website.)
Cher designed the house using a traditional Balinese style. But the interior decorating is more traditional, featuring (in the photos at least), modern-looking fabrics and styling. Any way you cut it, the interiors are lavish and the views to die for.
And the price? Concierge Auctions estimates that Cher's house in Hawaii, which has never been listed on the market, will fetch anywhere from $8 to $12 million.
But if you're hoping to walk in Cher's footsteps, you'll have to find another venue. Apparently, Cher has never lived in the property. It is purely her vision of a spec house.
Traditionally, developers have built spec houses hoping to capitalize on location, amenities and design aesthetics. In this case, the brand is Cher. But it isn't the Goth Cher of the black and vampire red velvet furniture. Instead, Cher's house in Hawaii is calm, cool, and collected, perhaps reflecting her zen-like appeal.
The auction takes place at 11:00am Hawaii time. I'll let you know what happens.
Update:
According to news reports, Cher sold her Hawaii home for $8.72 million. She bought the property for $2.9 million, and then built the house, bungalows, pool and landscaping.
