Chelsea Handler interviews Ann Coulter’s “body double” after pundit cancels appearance
Chelsea Handler knows how to get back at guests who ditch her at the last minute.
The “Chelsea” host was excited to have conservative pundit Ann Coulter as a guest on her Netflix talk show, but then Coulter canceled the morning of the taping on Wednesday.
“Do you know how seriously I take this job?” Handler asked her audience, holding up a copy of “In Trump We Trust,” Coulter’s new book. “I was up at 5 a.m. this morning reading this piece of garbage.”
But Handler still found a way to make the best of it. To make up for the absence, Handler brought out Coulter’s “body double” -- actually comedian Fortune Feimster in a blonde wig -- to field questions in Coulter’s absence.
In character, Feimster offered up some classic Coulter quotes, including, “It would be a much better country if women did not vote, that is simply a fact.”
When Handler challenged that Coulter herself is a woman who can vote, Feimster responded, “I’m a woman, but I don’t love it. It’s not my favorite.”
So far, Coulter hasn’t offered a response to the creative use of her interview slot.
