Charlie Sheen Breaks Silence on Hospitalization

NEW YORK (CBS) Charlie Sheen is speaking out on the incident at New York's Plaza Hotel that led to him being hospitalized Tuesday morning.

The actor spoke to RadarOnline via text message, and told the website that he was fine and calling the story "overblown."

"Oh man, I'm fine," he told RadarOnline Senior Executive Editor Dylan Howard in a text message when asked about his condition. "The story is totally overblown and overplayed as far as the reality of the scenario."

Sheen texted Howard on Tuesday night, shortly after he arrived home in Los Angeles. Earlier that day, the actor had checked out of New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he underwent a psychiatric evaluation.

Sheen was taken to the hospital early that morning after security at the Plaza Hotel called police to report he was disorderly and had broken furniture in his room, police said.

The actor appeared highly intoxicated when officers arrived to his room around 1:30 a.m., and a woman with him said they had been out drinking and partying that night, according to a law enforcement official. She said he was yelling and tossing furniture when they returned to the room, said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the encounter and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

His publicist blamed an allergic reaction to medication.
