Charlie Callas, Comedian, Dies at 83
NEW YORK (CBS) Charlie Callas, long time famous comedian and sidekick, died on Thursday in a Las Vegas hospice. He was 83.
Callas, best known for his eccentric faces, graced television, film, and casino stages for more than four decades.
Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy told the Associated Press that the death was from natural causes.
Throughout his career, Callas toured with legends Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones, and had a screen role with Jerry Lewis in "The Big Mouth" in 1967.
His facial expressions and rapid-fire comedic impersonations made Callas a recurring favorite on the "Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
He also worked with Mel Brooks and was the voice of Elliot in Disney's "Pete's Dragon."
