Many stars who spoke out against the police shootings that killed Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, like John Legend, pointed out that killing police officers was not helping the situation.

"Killing these officers is morally reprehensible and completely counterproductive to keeping us safe," wrote Legend.

Shonda Rhimes wrote that the Dallas shooting hit too close to home for her: "As someone with law enforcement in my family, I am just shaking. That does not equal this. Senseless. Horrific. Heartbreaking."

Several celebrities warned fans against blaming the shooting on protesters. Michael Moore pointed out, "Eyewitness in Dallas said protesters were the ones who showed cops where the shooters were firing from."
