Hopkins was called as the first witness on the eighth day of testimony in Anthony's murder trial.
Anthony had told investigators her daughter, Caylee, was kidnapped by a babysitter named Zenaida Gonzalez. But several witnesses have testified that no such babysitter existed.
Prosecutors said Wednesday that they are nearing the halfway point of their case and could be down to about 20 remaining witnesses by the end of the week, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.
Anthony, 25, is charged with killing her daughter in the summer of 2008. The defense claimed in opening statements that Caylee accidentally drowned in her grandparents' swimming pool. The prosecution said she suffocated after having duct tape placed over her mouth.
Anthony has pleaded not guilty. She could face the death penalty if found guilty.
