Two-year-old Caylee Anthony was last seen June 16, 2008. Prosecutors said Caylee died from three pieces of duct tape being placed over her mouth and nose, while Anthony's attorney has claimed the toddler accidentally drowned in her grandparents' pool.On Wednesday, Anthony's grandparents' neighbor, Brian Burner, testified that Anthony approached him on June 18 to borrow a shovel to "dig up a bamboo root." He also testified that he saw Anthony's car at the family home June 16, the same day her daughter Caylee was last seen alive, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.
A month before that incident Anthony met Tony Lazzaro at a party. They soon started dating and she moved into an apartment he was sharing with four other people.
Lazzaro, who is set to continue testifying today, and his roommates took the stand yesterday, testifying that they met Anthony's daughter several times and then at some point in June, they never saw her again.
Lazzaro and the roommates said Anthony's demeanor never suggested anything was wrong.
"She just seemed just the same, nothing had changed. She was happy. She seemed excited about life," Cameron Campana said, the station reports.
Another roommate Nathan Lezniewicz talked about an evening spent at a nightclub in Orlando with Anthony, who participated in a "hot body" contest several days after Caylee went missing.
"She always seemed to be having a good time. I mean she's not an introvert," Lezniewicz said, reports WKMG
Prosecutors showed jurors surveillance videos of Anthony and Lazarro going to the video store and shopping at JC Penny after the time Caylee was believed to be missing.
"She was the way she was every day - happy," Lazarro said.
Defense attorney Jose Baez got Lazzaro to describe more tender moments between the mother and daughter, including Anthony using educational "flash cards."
