Democrats amused by GOP candidates' antics
ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- The Republican free-for-all Friday overshadowed everything the Democratic presidential candidates did on the eve of their South Carolina primary -- and that was just fine with them.
In a statement, the Democratic National Committee all but snickered: "If anyone is wetting their pants, as [Marco] Rubio suggested today, it's the Republican establishment."
A super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton released a picture of a seal overcome by laughter.
"There are some people out there, people like Trump and others, who want to divide us up," Bernie Sanders said during a campaign event in Minnesota. "They think they can get votes by making bigoted and racist remarks about Latinos, or telling us that we're supposed to hate Muslims."
But Democrats admit Donald Trump would be an unpredictable general election opponent.
"This is going to be a choice for us, as American people," New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, a Clinton supporter, told CBS News. "Do we want somebody that divides or someone that unites?"
Booker and other Democrats know if Clinton and Trump are the nominees, it will not be pleasant, with Trump likely to go after her constantly over Benghazi and her emails -- another 1,500 pages of which will be released Friday night.
