Calif. nursing student Michelle Le missing, family offers $20,000 reward
(CBS/KOVR/AP) HAYWARD, Calif. - Investigators are asking for the public's help in finding 26-year-old nursing student Michelle Le, whose family is offering a $20,000 reward for her safe return.
Hayward police say Le was last seen on Friday at Kaiser Hospital in Hayward where she was taking a class as part of a nursing course she is enrolled in with Samuel Merritt University in Oakland.
According to CBS affiliate KOVR, investigators say she told classmates that she was planning to drive to Reno, Nevada after class to visit friends.
But when she left class during a break around 7 p.m. Friday, she did not return. Her car was later found by police a few blocks away.
Investigators say Le had her cell phone with her when she left.
"Our investigators have made several calls into her cell phone, which have all gone unanswered," Hayward Police Lieutenant Roger Keener told the station. "What we don't know is if she currently has power to her phone or if the phone is turned off."
Le is described as 5-feet-6-inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Hayward Police Department at 510-293-7000.
