Buzz Briefs: Keanu Reeves, Jerry Seinfeld
Photog Suing Keanu Reeves Is A Fan Of His Films
A paparazzo may be suing Keanu Reeves, but he's got nothing against the actor's films.
Alison Silva retook the witness stand Wednesday morning and professed himself a fan Reeves' work. The photographer claims the actor's Porsche knocked him down while he was taking pictures of the actor in 2007, and is suing for damages in civil court.
Silva showed jurors the scar on his left wrist he says was from surgery required to repair his injured hand after the fall -- though he struggled to describe his unpaid medical bills.
Defense attorneys were preparing to question Silva, who they claim repeatedly changed his story after the accident.
Cookbook Author Not Amused By Seinfeld's Jokes
A cookbook author involved in a lawsuit with Jerry Seinfeld's wife says she wasn't amused by jokes the comedian made last year on late-night television.
In federal court papers explaining her position for a December hearing, Missy Chase Lapine said her 7-year-old daughter was upset after Seinfeld joked on David Letterman's show that people with three names - James Earl Ray and Mark David Chapman, for instance - turned out to be assassins.
Lapine said she "never felt so frightened and vulnerable" as when her daughter came home from school "and asked, 'Mom, what is an assassin?"'
Lapine claims Jessica Seinfeld got ideas for her "Deceptively Delicious" cookbook from Lapine's "Sneaky Chef," which teaches parents how to hide vegetables in recipes for children.
The Seinfelds' attorney said in a statement Wednesday: "As a comedian, Jerry has a right under the First Amendment to tell jokes. Ms. Lapine, on the other hand, was not joking when she maliciously accused Jessica Seinfeld, who also has young children, of plagiarism, a charge that is demonstrably false."
Bruce Springsteen Scraps Halloween Display
Bruce Springsteen is canceling his usually elaborate Halloween display at his New Jersey mansion.
Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, say they won't be having their usual elaborate Halloween display featuring masked characters and decorations.
Springsteen blames "catastrophic success" on his Web site.
The 59-year-old rocker and his wife say too many visitors to their neighborhood raised concerns for the safety of children and parents on the scary holiday.
Rapper T.I. Votes Despite Being A Convicted Felon
T.I. originally thought his voting privileges were revoked as a convicted felon, until he researched and learned that under a Georgia law felons are eligible if they're not currently serving probation or a prison sentence.
"It's a relief," said the best-selling rapper, who stood in line for no more than 10 minutes on Wednesday before entering a polling center in suburban Atlanta to vote for the first time in his life.
"This what it is all about, not staying up late and waking up early to vote," he added. "Now rather than just talking about it, I'm being about it. I'm leading by example, and it makes me feel a lot better."
T.I., who already has two No. 1 hits off his new album "Paper Trail" ("Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" with Rihanna), does have several federal firearms offenses and ongoing community service endeavors, stemming from his arrest last October for trying to buy automatic weapons. But his lawyer, Steve Sadow, confirmed that he can still cast a ballot because his sentence doesn't start until late March next year.
"Until he is sentenced in the federal case, he doesn't have a conviction yet," said Sadow of his 28-year-old client, whose real name is Clifford Harris. "Even though he is a convicted felon, he has a right to vote since he is not serving probation and hasn't started his prison sentence."
A spokesman for the Georgia Secretary of State's office confirmed that T.I. was eligible to vote.
Alleged Caruso Stalker Sought On International Warrant
An Austrian woman accused of stalking "CSI: Miami" star David Caruso is being sought on an international arrest warrant, and officials said Tuesday she could be hiding in Mexico.
The woman allegedly sent more than 100 letters to the American actor, pursued him for an autograph and then sent death threats when he refused to give her one, according to prosecutors in the alpine province of Tyrol.
The woman - identified only as being in her early 40s - was charged with stalking and threatening to kill Caruso, but failed to show for her trial in July 2007 and again in April, Innsbruck Provincial Court spokesman Thomas Lechner said.
Judge Guenther Boehler has issued an international warrant for her arrest, Lechner said.
The woman is believed to be abroad, possibly in Mexico, the spokesman said without elaborating.
Caruso plays Miami police Lt. Horatio Caine on the crime drama series on CBS.
Barenaked Ladies' Page Faces Drug Case In NY Court
Barenaked Ladies singer and guitarist Steven Page is due back in an upstate New York courtroom Tuesday to answer cocaine possession charges.
The 38-year-old Toronto musician was arrested in July while visiting two women at their suburban Syracuse apartment. Police were checking on a car they found parked across the sidewalk with its driver's side door open outside the apartment.
Authorities charged Page with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
Page's case has been adjourned several times but a court clerk says it is on the calendar for Tuesday evening.
CBS Yanks Low-Rated "The Ex List" From Schedule
CBS has crossed "The Ex List" off its schedule.
The hourlong comedy about a woman searching for true love among her ex-boyfriends has been pulled from the network lineup, CBS said Monday. Its Friday time slot will be filled this week by a rerun of "NCIS."
There was no comment from the network on whether the freshman show might return. It was a weak link for CBS, which has gotten off to a strong start with returning shows including "NCIS" and some newcomers, most notably "The Mentalist."
"The Ex List" had aired four times. Last week's show dropped about 1 million viewers from the previous week, bringing the total audience to less than 5.5 million.
Based on the Israeli TV series "Mythological X," "The Ex List" stars Elizabeth Reaser as a 30-something woman who's told by a psychic that she must wed within a year or never - and her dream man is among the guys she's already dated. That leads her to give each another chance.
Reaser, who played a disfigured patient last season on "Grey's Anatomy," portrays Esme in the upcoming film "Twilight," based on the first installment in Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series.
Diane Ruggiero, the executive producer originally in charge of "The Ex List," left the series last month after creative disagreements with CBS.
