Bucks Sign Veteran J.R. Reid
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed veteran forward J.R. Reid to a multiyear contract, the third veteran the club has acquired in the last two days.
Reid finished last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he averaged 9.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Reid was acquired by the Lakers from Charlotte last season in the five-player trade that sent Glen Rice to Los Angeles and Eddie Jones to the Hornets.
The Bucks are the fifth team for Reid, a former Olympian and the fifth overall pick in the 1989 draft. He also has played for San Antonio and New York, and he played the 1996-97 season in France.
"Adding his size, aggressiveness and experience to that of our current players bolsters our front line," Bucks general manager Ernie Grunfeld said.
On Thursday, Milwaukee traded forwards Chris Gatling and Armen Gilliam to Orlando for Danny Manning and Dale Ellis.
"We've added another key player in J.R., who's not afraid to do the little things that make a basketball team successful," Bucks head coach George Karl said.
