NEW YORK (CBS) A speedy hour of Dallas and Nashville auditions begins Thursday's "So You Think You Can Dance" before the judges get down to business with the Las Vegas callbacks.

New ballroom expert Toni Redpath and Broadway choreographer Tyce DiOrio sit in with Nigel Lythgoe in Dallas, while Broadway's Joey Dowling joins for the Nashville tryouts.

Afterwards, there's a brief glimpse at the first two days of the Vegas auditions with former regular Mary Murphy joining Lythgoe and Adam Shankman along with several choreographers.

One notable performer in the first hour is 23-year-old fan favorite Bryan Gaynor. First auditioning in Season 3, Gaynor made such an impression that he returned in the finale and performed onstage. He's joined up with two other dancers to form a crew named "Remote Control." This time, Gaynor grooved to Owl City's "Fireflies," and the tune may as well serve as a personal mantra. He didn't make it through to the choreography round in Vegas, but Lythgoe, who is also the show's creator and executive producer, promises him that they'll feature his crew on the show.

On Day 1 in Vegas, the 122 aspiring dancers arrive inside and greet judges Lil' C, Murphy, DiOrio, Shankman, Redpath and Lythgoe. In the first round, the dancers are asked to perform solos in front of the judges. Two dancers from previous seasons got free passes to Vegas and are the first ones to audition.

When Day 2 of Vegas rolls around, only 69 dancers remain. The second round is ballroom and Redpath proves to be a tough sell with the dancing hopefuls. The first group disgusts the judges so much, almost all get axed. Ouch. Resplendent with curse-words and a drill sargent demeanor, Redpath is probably the show's most no-nonsense teacher ever.

Next week, a dancer withdraws from the competition and for the first time ever, judges will travel to dancers' hometowns to tell them whether they've made it to the final 20. Bring 'em on.
