Brooklyn Decker on her next film role and love for TV
Brooklyn Decker spent her Valentine's Day watching other couples kiss.
The 25-year-old actress was in New York away from her sweetheart, Andy Roddick, to work a "Shave and Kiss" event for Gillette. Guys made sure they had a clean shave before puckering up in hopes of breaking the world record for the most kisses in one minute by a couple.
"It's one of the funnier things that I've ever seen because I think the record is 258 kisses in a minute. So if you think about that, it's four kisses a second so these people are grabbing each other's faces and basically banging their heads against one another," Decker told CBSNews.com. "At least they're doing it clean-shaven and they're not giving their girlfriends beard-burn, but it's pretty funny to watch."
After the shaving lesson and kissing contest, Decker, who graced the 2010 cover of Sports Illustrated, spent some quality time with friends in New York on Thursday night.
"I've never really been a big celebrator of it [Valentine's Day]. I'm usually with my girlfriends," she said, adding, "This is around the time that Sports Illustrated comes out, so I've always been with the girls of the magazine since I was 18 years old. But some of my best Valentine's memories would probably be when you're a really little kid and you're in school and you had to make Valentines for everyone in your class. It was the sweetest thing."
Now Decker has a permanent Valentine. Decker and Roddick, 30, married in April 2009 and because of their busy schedules, Decker says their relationship still feels fresh. "Luckily travel allows me to do that," she said.
Decker likely has some traveling coming up very soon, as she's close to nabbing her next film role.
"I especially love comedy, so we have something in the works now that I can't announce yet, but hopefully soon I can announce a comedy that I have coming up. It will be pretty fun," she said. "That's [comedy] definitely something I find I'm most comfortable in."
Decker showed off her acting skills in 2012's "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "Battleship," as well as 2011's "Just Go With It."
And she recently made a guest appearance on the Fox sitcom, "New Girl," starring Zooey Deschanel. A big fan of the show (she's seen every episode), Decker says she jumped at the opportunity.
"The cast was incredible. This is their second season, so they've been working together for a little while now," Decker said. "The chemistry is great. It's very fraternal. Everyone's improving with each other and throwing jokes at each other. It was a great familial set."
After her "New Girl" appearance, Decker, who previously appeared on "Ugly Betty" and "Chuck," may have caught the television bug.
"TV is something that's pretty new to me," she said. "I kind of started in television and then I did mostly movies and I've gone back a little bit to television and I really love it."
It's been a few years since Decker has done any modeling, as she continues to shift her focus to film and TV.
"I'm doing all acting and I'm just lucky that I'm actually able to work so hopefully, knock on wood, I'll stay lucky and continue to work on the acting side," she said.
