Broncos CB Tony Carter apologizes for "insensitive" Colo. theater tweet
Denver Broncos cornerback Tony Carter has apologized for a tweet referencing the Aurora, Colo. shooting that left 12 people dead.
According to KDVR-TV, Carter tweeted the following on Monday night: "At a late night movie in Denver yall pray for me!"
The comment, which was later deleted, was an obvious reference to July's deadly late-night theater shooting in Aurora.
On Tuesday, Carter was back on Twitter to apologize:
As KDVR writes: "At its absolute best -- and it's doubtful anyone in the state of Colorado or around the nation will take it that way -- it was a terrible joke. At its worst, it was downright terrible."
Carter, a 26-year-old backup player who has played in 12 career games, has recorded three tackles and one defended pass in five games this year for the Broncos.
