Brittany Kerr: Jason Aldean situation was a "lapse in judgment"
Former "American Idol" contender Brittany Kerr has issued an apology for getting close to married country star Jason Aldean.
The mea culpa comes after they were photographed getting cozy last Wednesday at a West Hollywood night spot.
"The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part," Kerr said, reports TMZ. "I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends and family."
On Sunday, Aldean offered his own form of an apology to fans: "The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys."
Aldean and his wife, Jessica Ussery, are high school sweethearts who have been married since 2001. They have two daughters: Keeley, 9, and Kendyl, 5.
Aldean is up for three CMA awards this year, including entertainer of the year. He's also set to perform at the ceremony, scheduled for Nov. 1, in Nashville, Tenn.
