Brett Favre: MVP, TD Leader... Grandpa
While future Hall of Famer Brett Favre spends another off-season mulling whether or not he'll return to the NFL, he'll have a new family member to distract him from his decision.
The Minnesota Viking quarterback's daughter Brittany gave birth to a boy on April 2, making the 40-year-old Favre a grandfather.
Favre and his wife Deanna confirmed the news on Favre's official Web site.
"Deanna and I are very proud to welcome our grandchild Parker Brett to the Favre family. Parker Brett was born on Friday, April 2, weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz and we're pleased to say that both Mom, Dad and Parker Brett are healthy and doing great," the statement read.
Favre, who enjoyed one of his finest seasons last year in Minnesota, has not announced yet whether he will return to play next year. The all-time leader in touchdown passes is currently pondering his future in his home state of Mississippi.
Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora says Favre dropped by practice and spoke to the team for about 10 minutes following the practice on Monday.
"It was just a great day (that brought him out)," Fedora said. "He watched a little practice and we were very lucky to have him out. He visited with the team after practice and it was pretty special."
Fedora said Favre didn't discuss his plans. "He didn't say that and we didn't ask, either," the third-year coach said.
