"Breaking Bad" action figures cook controversy at Toys R Us

"Breaking Bad" is one of the most critically acclaimed television shows of the past decade, but when it comes to the show's new Toys R Us line, opinions are more split.

A Florida mom started a petition to de-shelf a "Breaking Bad" action figure line, saying the toys set a bad example for kids.

"I was very shocked and appalled," Susan Schrivjer told Today Parents.

The figure for Walter White, the former high school chemistry teacher gone meth dealer, comes equipped with a duffel of cash and a bag of meth.

Jessie Pinkman's doll includes a tray of blue crystal and a gas mask, you know, to protect against dangerous substances while cooking. At least this one encourages lab safety?

"Anything to do with drugs is not doing the right thing," Schrivjer said. "I just think that they need to look at their visions and values, as they call them."

The appalled mom started a Change.org petition asking Toys R Us to stop selling the dolls. In less than a week, she received more than 1,000 signatures. She now has over 7,000.

Some of the comments on the petition include, "These dolls are ridiculous...They are NOT for children and do not belong on the shelves at Toys R Us." And "Completely inappropriate. Makes me wonder how much shopping I will be doing at Toys R Us."

Toys R Us told NBC News that "the product packaging clearly notes that the items are intended for ages 15 and up" and "are located in the adult action figure area of our stores."

Cranston, who portrayed Walter White on the Emmy-winning series, even chimed in about the controversy on Twitter:

The product is no longer available on the Toys R Us website.

Tell us: Do you think these toys should be taken off the shelves?
