Boyfriend of missing NC teacher arrested in Ill.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The boyfriend of Bianca Tanner, a missing teacher in North Carolina, has been arrested in Chicago on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Angelo Grayson Smith Jr. was arrested Thursday afternoon in Charlotte.
A warrant was issued for Smith's arrest June 22 on that charge after Tanner's 3-year-old son reportedly told police he saw Smith abuse his mother.
Investigators say Smith was the last person to see Tanner before she disappeared. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have classified her disappearance as a homicide. No one has been arrested in her disappearance.
Smith told police that the 31-year-old Tanner left their apartment June 7 after an argument.
Smith's attorney, Kenneth Snow, has said his client was not on the run.
Tanner had moved to Charlotte from Greensboro last month, where she accepted a job with a new education program.
