Boom boxes bring police to Pa. bridge, but no explosion
(CBS/AP) PITTSBURGH - A road connecting to busy interstate highways 279 and 376 in Pittsburgh was closed before dawn Friday due to a report of a suspicious package.
Upon further review, the "package" on a pedestrian bridge turned out to be four boom boxes taped together - and possibly left there by people who reportedly partied in the area hours before.
WPXI-TV says a robot from the city bomb squad was brought in to examine the electronic bundle before police determined it was harmless and took it away. The station reports that Twitter feeds indicate there was a party in the area late Thursday attended by as many as 200 people, and police believe they may have left the boom boxes behind, but fortunately, no kaboom.
