Body found amid search for missing Hartford mother

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. --Police in central Connecticut have found a body amid a search for missing Hartford mother Tashauna Jackson, reports CBS affiliate WFSB.

Jackson, 23, was reportedly last seen around 11 p.m. Aug. 14 getting into a car with a man outside her mother's home on Barbour Street. Police told the station the man has been questioned, but no charges have been filed.

As of Tuesday, he was being treated as a witness, reports the Hartford Courant. Police have said it's unlike Jackson to be out of contact with her family and have said they're concerned for her safety.

The decomposed body of an unidentified female was found Tuesday in Bloomfield, near the town's border with Hartford, not far from the Hartford's Keney Park where friends and family had been searching for Jackson. Police told the paper the investigation pointed them in the direction of the park, about a mile from where Jackson was last seen.

Police tell the Hartford Court the body showed no signs of obvious trauma, but it appeared someone else had been at the scene.

"It appears steps were taken to hide the body," Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley told the paper.

Foley reportedly said volunteer searchers found the body behind a building that belongs to a poultry business.

Friends and family gathered in Keney Park for a candlelight vigil Monday night.

"She never disappeared before. She loved her son. Her son is her everything," family friend Sha-Ron Blair told the station. "She would never run off."

Anyone with information was asked to call the Bloomfield Police Department at 860-242-5151.
