"Black Mass" trailer shows Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger
Johnny Depp is no stranger to transforming for movie roles -- having scissors for hands, rocking eyeliner as a drunken pirate -- but the actor's turn in "Black Mass" takes it to a terrifying new level.
The first trailer for the film was released Thursday, showing Depp as famed Boston mobster Whitney Bulger. Looking nearly unrecognizable between the age makeup and the silver-haired wig, he goes from normal dinner guest to downright scary by the time the trailer is over (Trust us: You won't be sharing family recipes with this guy anytime soon).
Directed by Scott Cooper, the based-on-a-true-story thriller boasts an A-list cast that also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Peter Sarsgaard, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Joel Edgerton and Corey Stoll. It arrives in theaters Sept. 18.
