Bizarre end to wild police chase through south Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES --There was a bizarre ending to a nearly hour long police chase in south Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Police were chasing burglary suspects from Cerritos through south Los Angeles. The suspect driving was in a Mustang convertible with the top down in the rain.
The suspect drove wildly down narrow side streets, did donuts on Hollywood Boulevard on two occasions and even went over spike strips. The suspects also encountered a TMZ tour bus on the freeway and wedged past it while evading authorities, CBS Los Angeles reported.
At one point, one of the suspects threw something at another driver, believed to be a hamburger.
At least one tire was been disabled and the driver still continued on.
"This is a great commercial for Mustang," a CBS Los Angeles reporter quipped.
Civilian vehicles apparently also joined the chase and were following the suspects. When the suspect got out of the vehicle, several pedestrians shook his hand. Several others came over to take selfies with the suspect.
"This is all just so crazy," a CBS Los Angeles reporter said.
"I don't remember something this crazy," said another CBS Los Angeles reporter. "The chase is ... over. But the suspects aren't in custody. They're just sitting there."
It took about ten minutes for law enforcement forces to show up on the ground to take the two suspects into custody.
