Billie Jean King and the battle of the sexes
(CBS News) In 1973, the nation was captivated when 29-year-old Billie Jean King defeated tennis ace Bobby Riggs in a match dubbed "The Battle of the Sexes."
At the time, the match was met with more fanfare than any other in tennis history. For King, it wasn't about proving she had the skill to beat a man on the court; it was about fostering social change and equality for women.
Today, King tweeted about her legendary, straight sets win over Riggs at the Houston Astrodome, sending fans to a short video (above) by 60 Minutes Overtime.
