Bill Cosby breaks silence following criminal charge
Bill Cosby took to Twitter on New Year's Eve to thank fans for support just a day after a criminal charge was made against him.
The 78-year-old comedian simply wrote: "Friends and fans, Thank You."
Needless to say, his tweet received plenty of mixed reactions on social media:
Cosby was charged Wednesday with drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 12 years ago, marking the first criminal charges brought against him. He said under oath that he had consensual sexual contact with the woman.
Cosby was charged with aggravated indecent assault, punishable by five to 10 years behind bars and a $25,000 fine. He briefly appeared at a Pennsylvania courtroom this week to post $100,000 for his $1 million bond. His next court hearing is Jan. 14.
