Big East Tournament 2011 Bracket: Dominant conference battles in NYC

(CBS) - The Big East takes over New York City this week. Starting on Tuesday, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Louisville and more will meet to see who ends up at the top of what has been one of the most competitive conferences in NCAA basketball this year.

The tourney kicks off with UConn and DePaul Tuesday at noon. Top seeds Pitt and Notre Dame have byes and won't take the court until Thursday. Same goes for No. 3 and 4, Louisville and Syracuse.

Hometown kids and No. 5 seed St. John play on Wednesday. The whole show wraps up on Saturday.

The Big East has been dominant all year, with a record nine teams ranked in the top 25. ESPN projects 11 of the conference's 16 teams will make the NCAA tournament. Pitt is ranked 4th in the country, but with the depth of talent this year, expect fierce competition this week.
