Bianca Jones Murder Trial: D' Andre Lane, Mich. dad, faces sentencing in toddler slaying
(CBS/AP) DETROIT - A Detroit father will face sentencing today in the murder of 2-year-old Bianca Jones after prosecutors said he faked a carjacking to cover up his daughter's slaying.
D'Andre Lane, 32, was convicted of first-degree murder and child abuse in October. The law requires Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda Evans to sentence him to life in prison without possibility of parole on the murder charge. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon in Detroit.
Lane told police that Bianca was in the back seat of his car in Detroit's North End neighborhood on Dec. 2, 2011, when a carjacker took the vehicle at gunpoint. The car was found less than an hour later, but the girl was not inside.
Bianca's body was never found.
