"Batman vs. Superman" screenwriter: Fans won't influence film

Superheroes don't bow to fan pressure -- that's according to screenwriter David S. Goyer, who is co-writing the new "Batman vs. Superman" movie.

He's currently working on the script for the upcoming comic book character showdown with director Zach Snyder.

According to the Associated Press, Goyer said, "If I try to think about 'well, what would the fans like...?' then you stop being creative."

He worked on the "Dark Knight" trilogy and has the "Man of Steel" screenplay under his belt, so he's used to doing battle with popular opinion.

And "Batman vs. Superman" has already faced an online backlash after the casting of Ben Affleck as the caped crusader. Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently described Affleck's Batman as "tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile," and said the actor is "perfect" for the film that Snyder is directing.

Affleck will be starring alongside Henry Cavill, who is reprising his role as Clark Kent from "Man of Steel."

"Batman vs. Superman" is set for a summer 2015 release.
