"Bar Harbor Batman" arrested for April Fool's Facebook post
(CBS/AP) BAR HARBOR, Maine - If you're going to run around dressed as Batman, you need to use your powers for good.
A man who dresses like the "caped crusader" in Bar Harbor, Maine says he learned this lesson the hard way after an April Fool's prank led to his arrest on a terrorizing charge.
Christopher Schwartz, known as "Bar Harbor Batman," posted on his Facebook page on April 1 that he would blow up a hospital unless he was paid $1 million.
Some sense of humor, huh?
The posting got Schwartz arrested Sunday. He's due in court in June, according to CBS affiliate WABI.
Officer Thom Tardiff told the Bangor Daily News that Schwartz told police he was kidding, but then proceeded to ask officers if they'd brought the money.
Schwartz, who lives two blocks from Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, is known for dressing as Batman and dancing with his boombox. He apologized on his Facebook page for "any panic or mass hysteria" that he caused.
Gotham - or at least Bar Harbor - should sleep more soundly now.
