Bar fight over Toronto Blue Jays pitchers ends in fatal "sucker punch"
(CBS News) A bar fight over the Toronto Blue Jays pitching staff ended with a "sucker punch" that left one man dead in Calgary, police said.
According to the Calgary Herald, 41-year-old Brian Ludwig was arguing with another man about pitchers on the Blue Jays in Swigs Pub and Grill. The two went outside to a parking lot where the argument turned violent.
A third man came and threw what witnesses described as a "sucker punch" to the back of Ludwig's head. Ludwig was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma. Scott Robert Hooser, 27, was charged with manslaughter.
Police said everyone involved had been drinking.
"It can go wrong pretty fast," Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus told the newspaper.
