Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger wed
Two Canadian musicians have joined forces in life. Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger have tied the knot.
The pair exchanged vows on Monday in Mandelieu, France, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly and People. About 50 guests were in attendance at Chateau La Napoule, a restored French castle, on July 1, which is also Canada Day. Last fall, Kroeger talked about the significance of the July date in an interview with People: "We met while recording music in March. But we started dating July 1, so I'll let the math speak for itself there. We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day. We can't wait to start our life together. We're very happy."
Over the weekend there were erroneous reports that said the couple had wed on Saturday.
Lavigne, 28, and Kroeger, 38, got engaged last August after six months of dating. Kroeger proposed with a 14-carat diamond ring.
It's the first marriage for Kroeger and the second for Lavigne. She filed for divorce in 2009 from Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley after three years of marriage.
Lavigne rose to fame with her 2002 album "Let's Go." Kroeger has been the lead singer for Nickelback since the band formed in 1995.
