(CBS) The deal to have Ashton Kutcher replace Charlie Sheen on "Two and Half Men" is reportedly all but signed.

Pictures: Charlie Sheen
The news broke late Thursday. Kutcher tweeted around 10:30 p.m. ET Thursday, "what's the square root of 6.25?" The answer is 2.5.
The Hollywood Reporter cites two unnamed sources who are "close to the deal-making" in confirming reports that a deal is almost final.
When Hugh Grant passed on the show, the Kutcher deal happened quickly, reports THR. "Men" creator Chuck Lorre has reportedly written a storyline that will introduce Kutcher's character.
The news has not been confirmed by CBS or Warner Bros. - and Kutcher has a history of pranks - but other stars are weighing in through Twitter. Neil Patrick Harris, who stars as the womanizing Barney Stinson on "How I Met Your Mother," tweeted, "Ashton's replacing Charlie? Good times! CBS shindigs just got much easier on the eyes..."
Sheen, a prolific tweeter since joining the social media network March 1, hasn't tweeted about the rumors. He made the announcement at numerous times during his live tour that he was open to returning to "Two and Half Men." Sheen was fired from the show in early March.
In mid-April, Warner Bros. sent Sheen's attorney a letter that read in part, "As you know, there have been no discussions, there are no discussions, and there will be no discussions, regarding [Sheen's] returning to or having any involvement in the series," reads the letter.
Kutcher recently starred in the movie "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman. His next film, "New Year's Eve," has a scheduled release date of Dec. 9.
